This is a handy dandy camera kit specific to the Elegoo Phecda series laser engraver. Though it can be used just for monitoring the Phecda doing its business, the real goodness comes from using it with Lightburn. For an idea of what it can do, please see the demo I did using the kit: Camera kit demo for xTool D1 (same setup, different machine). Note: Because the Elegoo Phecda does not have limit switches, it is advisable to add them before trying to use the camera kit.
Why so big?
More than a year has gone by since Geeks At Large released it’s first camera kit for xTool D1 machines. Now that the big names have added their products to the mix, we only have one question: Compensating for much?
The Geeks At Large camera kit for Elegoo Phecda machines is half the size, fitting into more enclosures than the competition, including their own enclosures!
Installation (general):
I tried to make this as simple as possible – it’s one screw to attach to the frame. So, like a minute of your time? For center mount, add two screws to a total of three. This is more along the lines of 5min tops. Once mounted, you aim the camera at the bed, and set the focus of the camera. I’ll put 5min here too, for a total of around 10min. And now you’re ready for doing the camera setup in Lightburn. Take a look at our support page for video instructions for assembly and Lightburn setup.

Very nice camera, built well, and captures my entire workspace. The instructions are for the X-Tool, but they work exactly the same for the Elegoo. A word of caution, the bracket that mounts to the Phecda is very tight, so tight in fact that I broke mine on installation. I added some rubber padding and the braket stays on, it’s not a moving part so it’s very stable for my needs. I recommend being ready to sand down your braket just a bit, so you don’t break yours like I did. Best camera and mounting system I’ve found for the Phecda, and it fits perfectly under the Elegoo cover.

Thanks much for the feedback! We’re moving to all metal brackets in the near future, so no need for any sort or filing. If you need a replacement bracket, please let me know!

I had awesome results on my 1st use. It’s hard to imagine that after all the struggles with lasering , I now can import a file, toss a piece of anything in, resize and drag it onto whatever material I tossed in, click start and work on something else. Oh, and not worry about whether it will be right, because the results are always perfect. I have to tell you, I am close to 70, and every time I see the name geeks -at-large I giggle like a little kid.
