Intro

Sculpfun Rotary Switch is your solution for easily swapping between flat and rotary engraving.  Easy to setup, easy to use for the Sculpfun laser engraver.
 

FAQ

  • How does Sculpfun Rotary Switch work?
    • When you want to use do flat engraving, put the switch in the Y position.  When you want to do rotary work, move the switch to the R position.  The final position, “-” does nothing.
  • Will this work with rotary units from other manufacturers?
    • Yup!

Software

No additional software required, this is purely hardware.  

Installation for S series machines (S6, S9, S10, etc)

  • Power off machine  
  • Access the machine controller 
  • Unplug Y axis stepper motor cable from Y axis port on controller
  • Pass the switch cable plug and switch connector marked “Y” through the hole in the controller housing (same hole the other wires are passing through)
  • Install the switch cable plug into the Y axis port on controller
  • Plug Y axis stepper motor into the switch cable connector marked “Y” 
  • Reassemble controller housing
  • Using the included screws and T nuts, install the switch to the Sculpfun frame in a place that it’s easily accessible but not in the way of the laser

  • Plug rotary cable into remaining switch cable
  • Using the two included cable clips, organize the cables so that they are out of the way and will not tangle with the laser

All done!!

Installation for SF series machines (eg SF-A9)

  • Power off machine 
  • Unplug Y axis stepper motor cable from Y axis port Sculpfun controller 
  • Plug rotary switch cable into the Y axis port Sculpfun controller
  • Plug Y axis stepper motor into the switch cable connector marked “Y” 
  • Plug rotary cable into remaining switch cable
  • Using the double sides adhesive, attached the switch housing to the Sculpfun frame in a spot that is out of the way but easy to get at with you fingers.
    • The bottom edge of the front frame rail is a good spot
  • Using the two included cable clips, organize the cables so that they are out of the way and will not tangle with the Y stepper motor driveshaft
