FAQ

  1. How do I used Devil1 Lite with XCS/Studio?
    • xTool software does not support Devil1 Lite, or any other 3rd part hardware
  2. How do I get the red cross hair to turn on/off?
    • The red Guide Light switch on the front of the Devil1 unit controls the red cross hair
  3. Limit switches?  Where can I get them?
    • This will be a future optional accessory 
  4. What is this Assistmate thing?
    • Asssitmate for Devil1 automates your air assist, allowing you to toggle your air assist pump on/off automatically in Lightburn
  5. Does Devil Lite work with the auto focus from Alivepixel?
    1. Yup!  But I don’t know if those are being made any longer.
  6. I got the LCD too, how do I install it?
    1. The LCD option has its own support page
  7. I got the limit switches, how do I install them?
    1. The limit switch option has its own support page
  8. Doesn’t this have wifi?
    1. Well……if you have a solid 2.4GHz wifi network, you can run the machine over wifi in various ways.  This has its own support page, as it’s a big topic.  Note, it’s a whole lot easier to work with if you have the LCD.

What is the order of installing  the Devil1 Lite on my D1/D1 Pro?

    1. Assemble
    2. Setup in Lightburn with lbdev file
    3. Apply lbset file

Lightburn Files:

Devil1 Lite – This file is used to set up a stock Devil1 Lite D1/D1 Pro in Lightburn, as described in the Lightburn Installation video below

Devil1 Lite LS – This file is used to set up a Devil1 Lite D1/D1 Pro with the limit switch kit in Lightburn, as described in the Lightburn Installation video below

Devil1 Lite Extended – This file is used to set up  stock Devil1 Lite extended D1/D1 Pro in Lightburn, as described in the Lightburn Installation video below

Devil1 Lite Extended LS – This file is used to set up a Devil1 Lite extended D1/D1 Pro with the limit switch kit n Lightburn, as described in the Lightburn Installation video below

Machine Parameter Files:

Devil1 Lite – This file is used to set up the machine parameters either after firmware flashing, or, to get to a known working state.

Devil1 Lite LS – This file is used to set up the machine parameters either after firmware flashing, or, to get to a known working state.

Devil1 Lite Extended – This file is used to set up the machine parameters either after firmware flashing, or, to get to a known working state.

Devil1 Lite Extended LS – This file is used to set up the machine parameters either after firmware flashing, or, to get to a known working state.

To use an lbset file, In Lightburn, do:

  • Lightburn 2.x.x: Laser Tools – Machine Settings – Load from File
  • Older Lighburn: Edit – Machine Settings – Load from File.
  • After loading this file, click the Write button and watch for the message that confirms write was successful
  • Close Machine Settings
  • Power off Devil1 Lite
  • Power on Devil1 Lite

Firmware flash files:

Flash utility – (Windows) Use this to flash the firmware to the Devil1

Flash utility (Mac) – Use this to flash the firmware to the Devil1 (We’re Mac illiterate, so cannot answer questions if you don’t know how to do something on your Mac)

Firmware file – This is what the flash utility will use for flashing the Devil1 Lobotomy Kit (Last updated: 9/23/23)

Troubleshooting

  1. The module is moving opposite of the direction is should
    • The lbset file was not loaded correctly.  See above for the correct file. 
  2. I have extension rails on my D1, but the module wont go the whole distance
    1. With the Devil1 Lite connected and powered on, in Lightburn do Edit – Machine SettingsExtension rail setting for Devil1 Lobotomy Kit
    2. Under Outputs, change Y Max travel (1) to 950.
    3. Click the Write button (2).
    4. Close window
    5. Power off Devil1 Lite
    6. Power on Devil1 Lite
  3. When I try to run the flash tool, it won’t let me do anything
    • Close the tool, right click on the icon, select Run As Administrator
